Parkol Marine Engineering recently completed extensive modernisation work on the Campbeltown 87 pair-seiner Advance WY 77, owned by Lockers Trawlers Ltd, reports David Linkie.

Parkol engineers installed a new Baudouin 12M26.2 main engine (428kW @ 1500rpm), Masson MM7400 8.653:1 reduction gearbox and a new 2300mm-diameter propeller, shaft, nozzle and streamlined rudder, after the vessel’s five-cylinder Callesen 5-427-EOT main engine was lifted ashore.

A new Baudouin 6W126S engine (260kW @1500rpm) driving the main hydraulic system through a Technodrive clutch was also fitted, together with a 75kVa Meccalte alternator. Similar electrical power will also be generated by a second new Baudouin 4W105S auxiliary engine of 73kW @1500rpm.

The fishroom on Advance was also fully relined at the same time as the engineroom and some general hull work, including a full repaint, was also carried out.

After steaming from Whitby to Peterhead in 19 hours to pull on board fishing gear and carry out towing speed calibrations, Advance sailed last Tuesday afternoon on her first pair-seining trip with Sophie Louise WY 168.
