Fishing News AwardsFishing News has launched the Fishing News Awards for 2017

Members of the public have until now and February 17th 2017 to nominate individuals and organisations for the Fishing News Awards 2017.

The Awards shine a spotlight on the dedication, skills, and ingenuity of those working in UK and Irish commercial fishing. As Fishing News editor Dave Linkie explained: “Fishermen are some of the hardest and bravest workers in the country, yet are also often the most modest and unassuming people. It’s important the public realise the work fishermen put in, every single day of the year, to catch fresh, sustainable fish. This is precisely why Fishing News is hosting these awards.”

The 2017 Awards will consist of 12 categories, highlighting excellence across fishing industry sectors in 2016. These include ‘Young Fisherman of the Year’, ‘Fishing Port of the Year’ and the ‘ Lifetime Achievement Award’, plus a new category, ‘Independent Fresh Fish Retailer of the Year’.

Winners will be revealed at a ceremony held at the Hilton Treetops Hotel, Aberdeen on Thursday 25th May 2017, hosted by leading satirical impressionist Rory Bremner.
