Filey skipper Tony Plant recently starting potting from Scarborough with Boy Alan after buying the Kingfisher 33 from Scrabster, reports David Linkie.

Now re-registered FY 295, Boy Alan is a replacement for skipper Tony Plant’s previous potting boat, the Cougar 8m catamaran Polaris II SH 295, which is has been sold to the Isle of Skye and is now prawn creeling.

Although Boy Alan was specifically bought to give greater fishing flexibility, including fishing further offshore, the continuing presence of a strong fleet of visiting scallopers fishing just outside six miles means that to date skipper Tony Plant has been unable to gain full benefit from his new command.

Boy Alan WK 803 was fully fitted-out by Seaway Marine at Macduff towards the end of 2007 for Scrabster skipper James Bremner.

Rigged for pot self-hauling and shooting, Boy Alan features is powered by a Perkins Sabre engine (120kW @ 1850rpm) coupled to a PRM 1000 3:1 reduction gearbox. Pot hauling duties are handled by a 1t Seawinch hauler.
