The new twin-rigger Day Dawn FR 90 completed her maiden trip with a landing of 300 boxes into Fraserburgh  on the morning of 17 May, reports Mike Montgomerie.

Skippers Chaz and Martin Bruce told Fishing News that ‘it all went well, no problems’ and that they were very pleased with their new boat.

The first box landed by the Day Dawn was auctioned for charity, achieving a total of £1,100. Ten buyers contributed: Whitelink Seafoods, G&J Jack Ltd, Seafood Sourcing, A Thomson Jr Ltd, J Smith (Sandend), Alan Downie (Whitehills), Duthie and Summers, Charles Noble, P&J Johnstone and Jack Taylor.

The box was then ‘raffled’ between all the buyers, with J Smith of Sandend coming out as the winner. The fish was sold by Bill Munro of P&J Johnstone. The Bruce brothers were keen that local children’s charities should benefit from the money, so the total was divided between Westfield School in Fraserburgh and Lisa Ruth, the Giving Tree for Children at Christmas.
