Ebonnie in WhitbyThe Brixham vivier-crabber Ebonniê BM 176 is currently berthed at Whitby, where after being slipped on the yard’s floating dry-dock for a full hull repaint, Parkol Marine Engineering are now installing new engineroom machinery, reports David Linkie.

A Scania DI13 1307IM main engine, similar to the propulsion unit that will be installed in Ebonniê’s new sistership now being built by Parkol for Brown and Bright Shellfish Ltd, is now being fitted in place of the vivier-crabber’s original Caterpillar 3406 engine.
Parkol are also fitting a new Twin Disc gearbox.

The engineroom refurbishment of Ebonniê also includes fitting a new Iveco N45 auxiliary engine to replace a Doosan unit.

At the same time as re-engining Ebonniê, Parkol engineers are also fitting a new Baudouin 6W105S auxiliary engine (129kW @1500rpm) and Dongi splitter box to drive the main hydraulic system on the anchor seiner Kristenborg GY 199, which earlier this year was bought by Lockers Trawlers and is scheduled to  start fishing plaice on the Dogger Bank soon.
