Members of the Suffolk-based Deben Farm Club visited Peterhead recently in a trip designed to share knowledge between the fisheries and farming sectors.

Organised by seafood consultant Mike Warner and former trawler skipper turned seafood supplier Jimmy Buchan, the tour focused on the port operation, Peterhead Maritime Academy and fisheries operations, with the visitors discovering that many issues affecting their agricultural businesses were common to fisheries also.

The members then enjoyed a fish and chip lunch at the Dolphin Café, where they were able to sample some of the landings.

Club chairman Richard Scott hailed ‘a highly informative and eye-opening experience, essential for learning about other sectors of primary food production and sharing knowledge and experiences’.
