After a busy week, the nominations for the Fishing News Awards 2017 have been whittled down into shortlists for each of the 12 categories.

With three times the number of nominations of last year, these shortlists represent every corner of the country, and all aspects of commercial fishing.

Now it’s over to you. Voting is open and you have until April 28 to place your votes for your favourites.

You will be able to vote in 10 of the 12 categories, with the remaining two – ‘Young Fisherman of the Year’, and the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ – to be decided by a panel of judges drawn from the fishing industry. You may only vote once per category.

The finalists will receive their awards at a presentation evening, held at the Hilton Treetops Hotel, Aberdeen on May 25, the day before the opening of the Skipper Int Expo. The evening will be hosted by the acclaimed TV comedian and impressionist Rory Bremner, and includes a drinks reception, followed by a three-course meal with wine, and exclusive live entertainment.
