We are delighted to be able to reveal that acclaimed young Scottish comedian Stephen Buchanan will be our host for the 2023 Fishing News Awards gala awards evening at The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen on 11 May.

Stephen has appeared on a host of television and radio shows including Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club (ITV), The Now Show (Radio 4), The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC) and Breaking the News (BBC Radio Scotland), and is a regular face on Sparks (Channel 4). His series Cooking in a Crisis for BBC Scotland was a highlight of the lockdown.

His Radio 4 stand-up special Talking Shop was released in March 2021 and chosen as the comedy of the week. In 2018 he was crowned the first ever Scottish winner of the BBC New Comedy Award, and he also won the Scottish Comedian of the Year award.

The celebratory Fishing News Awards evening will begin with a drinks reception, followed by a top-class UK-caught seafood meal with wine – after which Stephen will take the stage to entertain guests and reveal the winners of this year’s awards.

Tickets for the evening, which can be bought singly or as tables of 10, are on sale now – book yours here.
