The 2023 Fishing News Readers’ Photos Competition set another new record for the number of entries we received.

The quality of many of the pictures printed over the course of the year made it a challenge to select this shortlist of six and then pick our winners – but the eventual verdict of the Fishing News team was that first place goes to Carl Davies, who wins our top prize of £250 for his atmospheric image of pots being washed in Conwy harbour. Second place goes to David Williamson, who wins £100, and the third prize of £50 has been won by Stephen Ross.

All six shortlisted photographers will receive a Fishing News beanie hat.

Congratulations to all of them, and our thanks to everyone who sent in their photos last year. Please keep them coming through 2024 – the search is now on to find this year’s winner!
