Latest Macduff Shipyards build now fitting out
The new twin-rig trawler Gracious PD 103 emerged from the fabrication shed at Macduff harbour over the festive period, and was due to go into the water as Fishing News went to press.
The 25m steel vessel is being built by Macduff Shipyards for skipper David West of Peterhead to replace his current command of the same name and PLN, which has now been renamed Devotion II PD 108.
The new vessel, which has a beam of 7.5m and draught of 4.2m, is fitted with a Caterpillar C32 main engine. The stylish new build has the distinctive latest-generation style of stem that is featured on several recent Macduff designs.
Gracious, which is yard number 707, will now continue fitting out at Macduff.
At Macduff Shipyards’ Buckie fabrication hall, there is currently a catamaran workboat being built marking the first time in years that there is no fishing vessel being constructed at the Buckie yard. This is in line with an overall slowdown in order books t most yards, with many skippers telling Fishing News recently that the cost of materials pushing up new build prices is stopping them placing new orders.
