The Irish National Seafood Survey, conducted annually by Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), is moving the formerly paper-based survey to an online system, and the deadline for completion has been extended, to 16 January.
Each year, all active Irish fishing vessels are invited to submit economic, employment and operational details for their previous year’s activities. The aim of moving the survey online is to make it easier for fishers to share data, which BIM then uses to demonstrate the positive economic impact of the sector in Ireland’s coastal communities.
Providing the economic information requested in the survey is of particular importance, because the EU sees economic data as a critical and necessary component in the development of long-term management plans, policy direction and allocation of funding. The National Seafood Survey is supported by the EMFF.
The survey is now live. To begin, you need to register your details here.
A series of ‘how to’ videos will soon be available here and survey participants can email: dcf@bim.ie or call: 087 394 0763 for assistance if required.
The deadline for receipt of surveys is midday on 16 January, 2022.
