Two family partnerships in northeast Scotland and southwest Ireland are preparing to start fishing with recently purchased vessels, reports David Linkie.

Gardenstown skippers Mark Robertson, Adam and Paul Robertson were rigging out at Fraserburgh last week in preparation for their first trip with new twin-rig trawler Zenith BF 106 (ex Daystar BF 151) – bought to replace the previous family-owned boat of the same name.

Union Hall skippers Jim and Nicholas Swanton berthed the 24m Maranello S 95 at Union Hall for the first time towards the end of last month. The French-built vessel was extensively refurbished and re-engined by D R Diesel at Kilkeel before arriving at Union Hall.
