Asteria BRD 250, a design of 19m twin-rig trawler built by Macduff Shipyards in its fabrication hall at Buckie, for the father and son skippers Alasdair and Andrew Montgomery and the Asteria Fishing Company of Portree, Isle of Skye, was being prepared to be launched last week, reports David Linkie.

Specialist trailers were moved into position on Thursday, before the trawler was moved out of the building hall and down an adjacent slipway at low water, when custom-built cradles were put in place to support the vessel before the low loaders were removed.

As Fishing News went to press (26.05.17), Asteria was scheduled to float off the cradles at the top of a spring tide before being towed to Macduff harbour for final fitting-out work.

Andrew and Alasdair Montgomery’s new boat features a Caterpillar C18 main engine, together with Mitsubishi 6D24TC and Mitsubishi S4KT auxiliary engines.
