The new midwater vessel Pathway PD 165 arrived in Peterhead at the end of last week, a few days after being named in Skagen, Denmark, reports David Linkie.

Pathway was designed and built by Karstensens Shipyard as a dual-purpose purse-seiner and midwater trawler for Lunar Fishing Ltd.

Of 78.75m LOA, breadth moulded 15.50m and a depth to shelterdeck of 9.20m, Pathway features an extensive full-length boat deck and is rigged for pumping pelagic fish onboard at the stern when trawling and amidships on the starboard side when pursing.

Pathway features an integrated Wärtsilä diesel/electric centreline package, including a 9L32 main engine of 5220kW Wärtsilä SCV 112/2 PDC70 two-speed gearbox and a matching 4.2m-diameter CP propeller.

Karmøy Winch AS manufactured the vessel’s extensive array of trawling and purse-seining deck machinery. This package includes two 110t split trawl winches and two 110t/40m³ net drums, together with lifeline and purse winches, net stackers and three deck cranes.

Jackson Trawls of Peterhead supplied a full package of midwater nets, sweeps and wires to Pathway, which is insured by Sunderland Marine.
