A unique opportunity has arisen within the Authority’s offshore team, based in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority is seeking to recruit a First Mate/Fishery Officer to support its seagoing operations. If successful you would become part of a closely knit team involved in the day to day management and operation of a ‘state of the art’ fisheries/patrol vessel.

Working under the direction of the Skipper and Deputy Chief Officer you would form an essential part of the crew assisting in the safe navigation and operation of a 26 m fisheries vessel, including acting as coxswain on a smaller 6.4 m RIB when required. In addition you will be expected to fully deputise for the skipper when required, including taking command of the vessel and managing all aspects of the offshore operational activity of the Authority. You should have an extensive command/watch keeping and deck work experience of fishing vessels or workboats.
