The Closed Areas Byelaw 2021

Pursuant to the above Act, Eastern IFCA intends to apply to the Minister for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for the confirmation of the following byelaw within the Eastern IFCA district:

This byelaw is intended to replace the Marine Protected Areas Byelaw 2018, amend 3 of the existing closures in place under that byelaw and close additional areas to fishing with bottom towed gear and in one area handwork and crab tiling, within 5 Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Eastern IFCA District. The intended effect of this byelaw is to prevent impact on the site integrity of the MPAs whilst minimising the socio- economic impact of spatial closures on fisheries livelihoods.
