Renewal of the Tollesbury and Mersea Native Oyster Fishery Several Order

Notice is hereby given that Tollesbury and Mersea Native Oyster Fishery Company Limited has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for a renewal of the Tollesbury and Mersea (Blackwater) Fishery Order under the Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Act 1967.  The Several Order will maintain the grantees exclusive rights to cultivate and harvest oysters, mussels and clams within a part of the Blackwater for a period of 20 years.

During a consultation period, lasting 30 days from the date of this notice, copies of the draft Order, Management Plan and map of the fishery will be available for inspection at the offices of the applicant, with a copy held by Defra at the address given below. Copies may also be accessed via the following websites: www.merseanativeoysters.co.uk,  www.kentandessex-ifca.gov.uk

Any objection or representation concerning the proposed Order should be made to both Defra, and the Tollesbury and Mersea Native Oyster Fishery Company Limited, at the addresses below, within 30 days of this date of notice.
