THAMES ESTUARY COCKLE FISHERY ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: The Kent and Essex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority has applied to the Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation of the Thames Estuary Cockle Fishery Order 2024 under the Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Act 1967. The Order will be in place for a period of 28 years. The purpose of this order is to maintain sustainable cockle fisheries within the Kent and Essex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation District as well as the wider ecosystem it relies on; through this support a viable cockle industry, recognising its important long term contribution to coastal communities and providing skilled employment.

During a consulation period, lasting 30 days from the date of the publication of this Notice, a copy of the proposed Order and Management Plan together with a chart of the locality of the limits of the proposed Order will be deposited at the offices of the applicant, at the address given below and at: www.cocklereview.kentandessex-ifca.gov.uk

Objections or representations concerning this notification should be made within 30 days of the date of this notice to both addresses given below:
