Appointment for six Chairs at Marine Scotland for

  • South West Coast Fisheries Group
  • North West Coast Fisheries Group

Marine Scotland seeks to appoint six independent Chairs for the Regional Inshore Fisheries Groups (one for each), for an initial period running from January 2023 until June 2024.

LOCATION: Working from home

SALARY: £275/day

HOURS: 8-16 days/month

THE ROLE: This post is for a Chairperson to work between 8 and 16 days per month*, depending on the area. The activities of the RIFG network are guided by Marine Scotland strategies, including the Blue Economy Vision, 2020-2030 Fisheries Management Strategy, Scottish Strategy for Seafood and National Marine Plan. The successful candidate will play an integral role in developing its function, in-step with these strategies. The Chairperson will be a fair, impartial and credible representative for inshore fishing businesses of all sizes and prepared to work proactivity to expand and promote the network.

THE PERSON: No formal qualifications are required. Applicants should have: Experience of chairing boards or committees / Excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with industry, Govern- ment and the public. / Ability to form strong relationships that generate confidence in the network and enable collaborative working towards shared goals.
