North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority is one of ten authorities covering the English coast. Our primary statutory function is to manage the sustainable exploitation of sea fisheries resources.  This is delivered through the monitoring of activities and enforcement of appropriate management measures including local and national regulations.

IFCO Crew/Engineer

£31490 – £35582 + unsociable hours allowance (time plus one third for any hours worked between 6pm and 6am) for average 42 hours per week

Based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, on board the Authority’s main fisheries vessel North Eastern Guardian III, routine duties include supporting the First Engineer in the day-to-day maintenance of the vessel, its engines and all ancillary equipment.

The role also includes supporting the enforcement of marine legislation and the delivery of marine research and survey work.

IFCO Crew/Environmental & Scientific Officer

Based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, on board the Authority’s main fisheries vessel North Eastern Guardian III, routine duties include working under the direction of the Offshore Operations Manager and First Mate and liaising with the Environmental & Scientific and land-based enforcement teams.

You will play an essential role in supporting the safe operations of the vessel, as well as supporting the delivery of the Authority’s marine research and survey programmes, collating and analysing data and producing reports.

The role also includes supporting the enforcement of marine legislation.  Experience in the use of acoustic monitoring systems and techniques would be an advantage.

Environmental & Scientific Officers/IFCO (two posts)

£27741 – £31346 + unsociable hours allowance (time plus one third for any hours worked between 6pm and 6am) for average 37 hours per week

Based in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, routine duties include supporting the Authority’s marine research and survey programmes including working on board commercial fishing vessels, collating and analysing data and producing reports.

The role also involves enforcing marine legislation and supporting operational activity throughout the Authority’s district both onshore and offshore.  Experience in the use of Geographical Information Systems would be an advantage.

Assistant Operational Support Officer

£20092 – £22627 for average 37 hours per week

You will join a small team, working within a very busy and dynamic office environment based in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire.

Under the direction of the Operational Support Manager, routine duties include supporting general administrative and clerical functions for North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority.

Experience in answering telephone calls and handling enquiries from members of the public is required as is experience in the use of office based IT software packages.
