Sam of Ladram BM 188 for Brixham

The latest addition to Brixham’s beam trawler fleet, Sam of Ladram BM 188 landed her first trip into the south Devon port last week on completion of a €1 million modernisation project in the Netherlands, reports David Linkie.

The extensive works to update the 24m beam trawler by improving fuel efficiency, catch quality, crew comfort and vessel safety, were carried at the LUYT Shipyard in Den Over, with the support of EMFF funding through the MMO.

Sam of Ladram is the former Brixham beamer Lloyd Tyler BM 188, which was bought last year by Waterdance Ltd (part of the Greendale Group) before being renamed during the refit. The group owns beam trawlers, scallopers and netters, catches from which are sold through the company’s farm shop at Greendale, near Exeter.
