Skipper Expo Int Aberdeen 2018 – fishing industry all set for another great show

Skipper Expo Int Aberdeen 2018 gets underway on Friday, 25 May – and due to popular demand will be opening one hour earlier than usual on both days of the show (25 May, 9am to 5pm, and 26 May, 9am to 4pm)
With around 200 exhibition stands, including more than 30 new exhibitors from all over Europe, the expo looks set to be another fantastic event, providing a comprehensive showcase for all the latest equipment and support services available to the fishing industry.
Sponsored by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, the expo comes at a time when Brexit and its implications for fishing are dominating the headlines. It is also being held during a period of significant investment by Scottish skippers in new vessels, which is reflected by the large number of shipyards and boatyards present at the event.
Star attractions include the free industry night at the Douglas Hotel in Aberdeen on Friday, 25 May, where show organiser Mara Media will be hosting a seafood buffet and dance for exhibitors and invited guests. This special night is sponsored by Peterhead Port Authority, Sunderland Marine and Commercial Oils. For invitations to this evening, please see the stand holders or show organisers.
Another major highlight at the expo will be the ever-popular seafood tasting stand hosted by Box Pool Solutions, and ably assisted by the chefs from the Buchan Braes Hotel in Peterhead.
There will also be safety demos at the show, held each day at 12.30pm and hosted by the RNLI.

the strong exhibitor base and high number of first-time attendees.

BOATBUILDERS
Several shipyards and small boatbuilders will be present at Skipper Expo, along with two boat displays.
Maver Boats will be displaying an 8 x 4m Twin-C catamaran.
G Smyth Boats from Kilkeel will be exhibiting a 7m potter, which will be delivered to a Peterhead skipper straight after the show. It features a 60hp Beta engine and Spencer Carter pot hauler.
Audacious Marine will be promoting its range of catamarans from its stand. They come in a range of sizes and can be equipped with inboard or outboard engines.
Icelandic boatbuilder Trefjar Ltd, which is renowned for its Cleopatra Fisherman series of high-speed semi-displacement boats, designed to meet all requirements of fishermen for efficiency and seaworthiness, will also have a stand.
Other smaller boatbuilders attending at Aberdeen include Anderson Marine and Murphy Marine Services.
Among the shipyards represented at the expo are Macduff Shipyards, Parkol Marine Engineering, Hirtshals Yard, Karstensens, Arklow Marine Services, Baatbygg, Stadyard, Zamakona, Armon and Astander.
