The countdown is on to the 2024 Fishing News Awards, and nominations are coming in fast. Have you made your nominations yet?

The only awards event dedicated to recognising achievement, innovation and success in the UK and Irish commercial fishing industry, the Fishing News Awards will crown winners in 12 categories this year. To ensure that our 2024 winners really do represent the very best of the industry from around the coast, we need your local knowledge.

Who do you want to see honoured at this year’s awards?

Is there a skipper who has inspired you in your career, or an outstanding young crewman working their way up aboard your vessel? Did your training college have an exceptional student in 2023?

Has a company, organisation or individual provided you with outstanding service? Have you been particularly impressed by a recent innovation or sustainability initiative? Does your local port go above and beyond in its support of the industry? Make your nominations now to set them on the path to recognition at the 2024 Fishing News Awards!

All nominations need to be received by midnight on Monday, 12 February. Shortlists will then be drawn up before voting opens for eight of the categories: Over 10m Fisherman of the Year, Under 10m Fisherman of the Year, Young Fisherman of the Year, Trainee Fisherman of the Year, Service Provider of the Year, Initiative of the Year, Technical Innovation of the Year and Port of the Year.

A panel of judges from the fishing industry will decide the winners of the remaining four categories: Under 15m Boat of the Year, Over 15m Boat of the Year, The Sustainability Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
