A gentlemen’s lifestyle store has found a way to help ‘open up’ more support for the town’s lobster hatchery. The store, Furbellow & Co, which stocks a ‘carefully curated range of products’, will donate £3 from the sale of every cast-iron lobster bottle opener to Whitby Lobster Hatchery.

Through conservation, education and research, the hatchery, which works closely with the Yorkshire fishing industry, plans to release 100,000 juvenile lobsters each year to help create a sustainable future for the area and its coast.

Last year, to mark the end of its first season, the hatchery launched a lobster sponsorship programme to help achieve its ambitious aims.

Furbellow & Co says that each £3 donation will help to raise and release three juvenile lobster.

The lobster bottle opener is priced at £6, and is available in-store at 11 Sandgate, Whitby or online here.
