Zenith BF 106 (pictured above) and Excel BF 110, which have the distinction of being the first UK vessels with Tier III-compliant engines, are nearing completion at Macduff Shipyards, with sea trials scheduled for this week and next.

Built at Macduff ’s Buckie yard for Mark, Paul and Adam Robertson and sons, the 22.75m Zenith is yard number 701 for Macduff Shipyards.

Yard number 702, the 19.90m Excel BF 110, has been built at the company’s Macduff yard for Derek and Phil Watt.

Both vessels are powered by a Caterpillar C18 main engine paired with a high-efficiency selective catalytic reduction system – a solution devised by supplier Finning to comply with the new emissions requirements for vessels with a keel laid after 1 January, 2021.

Each of the new trawlers features a bespoke deck machinery package supplied and installed by Macduff Shipyards.

Full details of each of the new vessels will appear in Fishing News soon.
