Notice is hereby given that pursuant to the above Regulation, North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority intends to apply to the Minister for the Department for Environment Food and Rural affairs for confirmation of the following Byelaws:

Byelaw XXX ‘Automatic Identification System Byelaw 2016’

Since this Byelaw was originally advertised for consultation on 22 December 2016 the supporting Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) has been amended to cover potential regulatory duplication with the potential development and implementation of a national inshore vessel monitoring system (I-VMS) in England.

Byelaw XXVIII ‘Crustacea Conservation Byelaw 2018’

This proposed byelaw sets provisions for the management and conservation of crab and lobster stocks throughout the Authority’s district. As well as including all existing current management measures the new byelaw regulation will also set a new standard maximum vessel size limit of 10m overall length for pot fishing inside the 3 mile limit across the district with a ‘sunset’ provision protecting historical rights, protection for egg bearing lobsters, mutilated lobsters, a new prohibition on taking soft shelled lobster, a maximum pot frame size and inclusion of existing protections for ‘v’ notched lobsters.
