Nominating and Voting
Do you know someone deserving of a Fishing News Award? This is your chance to make your voice heard. Nominations can be made on behalf of a friend or colleague, or you can put yourself or your company forward.
We are open to receive nominations for the Awards until midnight on February 12th 2019, at which point we will accept no further nominations.
We will celebrate excellence in 14 categories, each resulting in an award. There are a couple of changes for 2019, including the introduction of a new category, ‘Service Company of the Year’, which will shine a spotlight on service companies that provide outstanding support to fishing boats across the UK and Ireland. The second is the splitting of the ‘New Boat of the Year’ category into 3 separate categories, for new demersal, pelagic, and shellfish vessels.
Each category has strict entry criteria, and you will be asked to give the reasons behind your nominations when entering them. We will also need accurate contact information for the person or organisation that you nominate.
The Awards categories can be found below – simply click on the links for information on each category:

From 5th March 2019 you will be able to vote in 10 of our 14 categories via our secure online voting system. Voting will close at midnight on Thursday, 18th April 2019.
Four categories – Port of the Year, Young Fisherman of the Year, the Sustainability Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award – will not have public votes. Instead they will be judged by a panel drawn from the fishing industry, using all supporting evidence provided through the nomination process.
Results will be announced at our gala Awards dinner in Aberdeen on May 16th 2019.
