Nominating and Voting
The Fishing News Awards 2020 will shine a spotlight on the achievements, expertise and innovation of the UK and Ireland’s commercial fishing industries during 2019.
Do you know someone or an organisation deserving of a Fishing News Award for their work in 2019? Do you yourself or you company merit one? This is your chance to make your voice heard. Nominations can be made on behalf of a friend or colleague, or you can put yourself or your company forward.
We are now open to receive nominations for each award category until midnight on February 11th 2020, at which point we will accept no further nominations.
We will be celebrating excellence in 14 categories. Each category has strict entry criteria, and you will be asked to give the reasons behind your nominations when entering them. We will also need accurate contact information for the person or organisation that you nominate.

Category shortlists will be available to view from 5th March 2020. From that point you will be able to vote in 10 of our 14 categories via our secure online voting system. Voting will close at midnight on Friday, 17th April 2020.
Four categories – Port of the Year, Young Fisherman of the Year, the Sustainability Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award – will not have public votes. Instead they will be judged by a panel drawn from the fishing industry, using all supporting evidence provided through the nomination process.
Winners for each category will be announced at our Awards evening on May 14th 2020.
